There are a lot of websites online telling you how to lose weight, but will the weight loss be long term?

If you are looking for the most effective way to lose weight, and keep it off, then please continue reading…

Several years ago my husband was struggling with his weight, and some internal issues like a bleeding ulcer.

For my husband, a bleeding ulcer was the worst because he couldn’t eat hot peppers anymore.

Not being able to eat hot peppers was like a curse to him.

He wanted to eat hot peppers so bad, he was willing to do anything.  Crazy!

My husband challenged me!

He told me that I had 30 days to help him, or he was going to the doctor.

I’m not a fan of doctors…Emergency care is another story!

I was ahead of my husband, and knew that I had the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off.

Not only lose weight, but heal completely with food.

It was go time!

I had been researching many different modalities, but not necessarily for weight loss.

While I was at my local library looking for interesting health books, and I came across
Eat to Live.

What’s Eating You?

We all know that we need to make better eating choices, but there are ingredients in our foods that keep us coming back for them.

These are addictive ingredients, and they work on our neurotransmitters that cause us to want, or shall I say, crave these foods.

Our bodies don’t really desire these foods, but crafty food manufacturers have discovered chemicals that make us eat more.

Do you find yourself eating premade foods from boxes, cans or bags?

You know that’s not what you want.

Your better self tells you so, but those cravings almost always win out.

I have found myself in a place that always has chocolate desserts.  YUM!

For a time I indulged, but then got a grip, and realized that it was Real Chocolate that I wanted, not those chemical laden cakes and brownies.

Eat For Your Health

Would you be interested to know that my husband lost 30 pounds in 30 days?

I’m not saying that this is average, but you have to remember, he was hurting for Hot Peppers!

Can you find Your WHY to choose the most effective way to lose weight?

If you can find Your Why, You CAN achieve these great results.

Let’s talk about the Nutritarian Lifestyle.

The Nutritarian Lifestyle incorporates a heavy dosing of G-BOMBS.

  • Greens – Leafy greens are a powerhouse of nutrition – along with cruciferous vegetables like broccoli.

  • Beans – Plus other legumes stave off hunger for longer periods of time, and gives you your much needed Fiber to pull toxins out of your body.

  • Onions – Including leeks, scallions, garlic and the rest of the Allium Family.  These are anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, and they’re good for the cardiovascular and immune systems.

  • Mushrooms – The amazing mushroom (all eatable varieties) are anti-cancer, and you don’t need much.  If you don’t like them, buy them powdered.  You won’t even notice them in your food.  I love them raw, but evidence is showing that it’s best to cook mushrooms.

A Chinese lady once told me that they (the Chinese) don’t eat the mushroom stems.  They make broth out of the stems.  So don’t throw away your mushroom stems…make broth.

  • Berries – With their bright and deep colors, they truly are a superfood.   Berries are low in sugar, but high in nutrients.  A great brain food!

  • Seeds and Nuts – Herein lies your healthy fats!  Don’t be alarmed by fats.  Not all fats are bad.  Our brains NEED healthy fats.

Replace one meal a day with a HUGE healthy salad.

Choose dark leafy green lettuce

Add 2 cruciferous vegetables, like watercress, cabbage or arugula.

Choose plenty of colorful veggies to add, like carrots, sweet peppers (or hot peppers if you’re as crazy about them as my husband!), tomatoes and radishes etc.

If you’ve never had Hearts of Palm (canned or jarred), you must try that on your salad…mmm!  When I was a kid my mom used to feed these to us right out of the jar.

Add some walnuts or sunflower seeds.

Be sure to add your choice of beans

Nutritarian Dressing by Dr. Joel Fuhrman

2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon raw almond butter
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon dried basil

Whisk water, vinegar and almond butter together until mixture is smooth and almond butter is evenly dispersed. Mix in remaining ingredients. NOTE: Feel free to experiment with other raw, salt-free nut butters, spices and vinegars to create salad dressings as unique as your fingerprints!

Eat to your hearts content during each meal, but train yourself to resist snacking.

Leave at least 13 hours between your last meal of the day until breakfast.  This is where Fat Burning does its wonders.

Set your mind to eat the freshest food possible!

I was stricter than what is allowed with the Nutritarian Lifestyle, but I ONLY had 30 days.

My husband did ride his bike most days, but you can do whatever physical activity that you like, and I highly recommend you do.

Fast Forward to Today

So it has been six years since my husband got on track with his weight loss.

He has kept the weight off, but we have not stuck 100% with the Nutritarian Lifestyle.

We added small amounts of organic meats, grass-fed raw milk cheese and eggs from our own chickens, but we still eat plenty of the “G-BOMBS“.

We definitely do not buy premade boxed, bagged, canned or frozen type meals.

Not saying we don’t grab a pizza every once in awhile.

We’re not perfect, and we do indulge in junk every once in awhile, but we get right back on our healthy eating lifestyle.

It is a Lifestyle, that has to be embraced, for the most effective way to lose weight.

A change of heart and mind, changes everything.  So set your heart and mind to eat right…and Eat to Live life more abundantly!
